Charted Accountant is the most reputed profession in the field of commerce, apart from joining the best CA Institute of India, you must know the basic procedure of becoming a CA in India. Although students from arts and science streams can also join the CA course, that may be a little burdensome for them.
In India, charted accountants are in huge demand. They have a vast knowledge of different commerce subjects covered in their course. And therefore Chartered Accountants are well-respected persons. Once you become a CA you can go for a job or can start your own practice.
In India, ICAI is regulatory body of CA course. Chartered Accountant Act 1949, is applicable on ICAI, its fellow and associate members.

CA course is divided into 3 levels-
- CA Foundation
- CA Intermediate
- CA Final
CA Foundation
CA Foundation is an entry-level route if you want to pursue Chartered Accountancy. The syllabus of the course is very much similar to your 11th and 12th standard (commerce stream). The syllabus is divided into 4 subjects.
Paper 1- Principles and Practices of Accounting
Paper 2- Mercantile Law and General English
Part I: Mercantile Law
Part II: General English
Paper 3: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics
Part I: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning,
Part II: Business Statistics

The Paper Pattern in CA Foundation is partially subjective. The two papers mentioned above are of subjective nature and next two papers are objective nature. You have already gone through the Accounts in your senior secondary classes hence its scoring and this subject can really help you to cover your aggregate percentage. So, give your 100% to this subject. Here Mercantile law is a new subject as you have not studied in your previous classes but this one is also scoring. You need not learn each and every section. Make sure your concepts should be clear.
CA Intermediate
CA Intermediate Exam will be held a year in the month of May and November. The CA Intermediate Exam is the 2nd stage of Exam in CA for students pursuing the Chartered Accountancy Course. Once the students have appeared and cleared the CA Foundation exam(which is the entrance exam for CA Students) they can register for CA Intermediate Exam .In some cases, there is a provision of direct entry to the CA Intermediate Exam. The intermediate exam consists of 2 groups.

Group 2 of CA Intermediate include the following subjects.

CA Inter is a subjective exam.
The CA Inter Exam is for 800 marks and is divided into 2 groups. Each group has 4 subjects. Each Subject exam conducted on separate days usually with a gap of one day in each exam.
A candidate aiming for the CA inter exam has an option to appear in the exam group wise.Its individual choice whether to appear for both the groups of CA Inter together or each group separately in a different examination.
Students need to get a minimum of 40%, marks in each subject and a minimum of 50% marks in complete one group of Intermediate Exam. As such both the conditions should be satisfied for you to succeed the CA Intermediate Exam, 40% in every individual Subject and 50% overall level 50% criteria is group wise. It is not for both the groups combined. In each group, the candidate should be able to score at least 50% marks overall and 40% marks in the individual subject.
CA Final
CA Final course is the last level of ICAI course to become a Chartered Accountant in India. Students after qualifying both the groups of CA inter exam are eligible to register for Final Course and would be allowed to appear in Final Examination during the last six months of practical training.However, you are also required to complete Four Weeks Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and soft skills (AICTSS) before applying for the CA Final Examination.
CA Final examination shall be conducted twice in a year,i.e., in the month of May and November.
CA Articleship
CA Articleship is a year of training period under a CA. You can register for CA Practical Training after clearing at least one group of CA intermediate. This practical training is for a period of 3 years.
