Scrum is a scientific method and not a methodology in which empiricism is used so that people can look after complex problems along with productively and creatively delivering products in the highest cost possible. It is lightweight, simple to understand but difficult to master. It helps a team to work effectively and it was created by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. It is not a big collection of interconnected mandatory components. It takes the position of a made or coded approach with a proper approach, with respect for people and self-organization to deal with unpredictability and solving complex problems. Scrum Master Training is a very agile approach taken up by organizations. Scrum enhances the relationship between developers and business people and it also helps to improve quality along with increasing team member job satisfaction.
Important facts about the Scrum:
*Stakeholders cannot introduce change whenever they want: Actually a stakeholder can introduce change. But it does not cost anything to bring changes, although this change cannot be introduced in wrong time otherwise it will cost. If there is a change in introduction at the correct time, there may be a little or no aspect of money.
Some common ways of reducing costs even without taking the time of change into consideration. These are: small product backlog items, finishing each product backlog item as quickly as possible, usually by minimizing the number of items being worked on concurrently and short iterations. The advantages of making any kind of change has to be assessed against the cost of changing and cost is not always zero.
*Managers have no role in scrum: This is absolutely incorrect. Actually managers do so many jobs like managing the team that people think that they have no work in scrum and they only do things like looking after the team. A lot of managers spend a lot of time doing things which is not actually their job and which they shouldn’t be doing, regardless of being agile or not. They mainly have five jobs which are to set objectives, to organize people and work, to motivate and communicate, to measure and to develop people. But in some organizations, developing people becomes more important and the need of that situation which makes people think of managers as people who don’t actually do anything in scrum.
*Scrum teams don’t and can’t plan: Scrum teams do not follow a proper planning phase but they do plan everything before doing, because of which people don’t get to know about how and when they plan. Good Scrum teams do their planning in a shorter and effective way as they don’t go much into the future but it plans only what is recent. A Scrum team changes the crank of the entire development process every iteration and each iteration includes a little analysis, design, coding, and testing. As a result, the Scrum team gets more and earlier insight into how quickly it can turn ideas into new features.
*Scrum teams don’t design their products: Scrum teams design their products incrementally in the same way as they so their planning. There is no proper phase of designing which helps them to make their designs as good as possible. The technical team members first have a look on any part of the project which they think is difficult and then start working on it. Although the process of designing is underlying, but the decisions are needed to be take throughout the project and not just in one phase. This helps the team to improvise the project and look upon the satisfaction of the customers in a better way.
*Everyone has to be a Generalist on Scrum team. It is a very popular myth that everyone on a scrum team has to know to do all types of work. But again, it is just a myth. Different members have different skills which will be required for different situations. So people who possess skills in various sectors but working together, will help the team in a more efficient way. There are a lot of news passing around but not all of them are facts. So try your best to avoid such myths. If you have any doubts regarding Scrum, then you should clear them from someone who knows it properly
