Most people like to think that somebody can relate to them, in one way or, another. They like to feel that somebody get them, they understand them and that somebody has their back. Just to know this is really valuable, to actually practice empathy on a daily basis, that can be hard to do, mindset dependent of course. Your IT team will be under a lot of pressure over the next year or so, do your best to help them manage the following;
Staying Ahead of the Curve with Digital Technologies
Numerous studies show us that, over seventy percent of organizations all across the world have either already gone through the process or, shall soon be embarking on putting together their digital transformation strategy. The spike of new activity and ongoing management will have an effect on your IT team so, be there for them, good or bad, help where you can.
Over the last few years, there have been hundreds of thousands of businesses shut down as a result of, perhaps, not being prepared enough for the on-going break out. This has seen a massive increase in the amount of traffic online because, well, people still need to buy things as such, there is a greater need for IT support, infrastructures need putting into place as well as policies and procedures that need ‘shaking up’.
Employee Engagement in the Digital Age
Like it, or not, people’s feelings matter, more so today than ever before, perhaps that’s because of the appreciation for how fast the world we live in is moving or, because of an overall better understanding surrounding mental health and productivity. Has the world gone too soft or is this where we are supposed to be? Grandparents of 60 years and over will probably have something to say on the matter.
Long gone are the days of being able to call somebody a ‘chicken’ and it be taken, as intended, ‘with a pinch of salt’. Things are no longer ‘black and white’ so to speak and, as a business owner, people will look to you for guidance as they (for some people) travel down a road of uncertainty whereby the only thing that they can be certain of is that things will change. Your staff are going to need you or, at the very least, for you to acknowledge their concerns and to do something about it, even if that means employing somebody external to come and conduct 1-1’s.
Keeping Your Staff And, Developing Them Even Further
Some of your staff may feel uneasy, restless, some of them might even start to go into defensive mode or start looking for a new job, if they don’t feel that their needs are being met. Whilst there is a whole load going on outside, it is absolutely crucial that praise is still given, where due, in fact even more so than before.
Celebrate the success of your talent and help them to develop themselves, even further, as a person. Generally speaking, people are instinctively loyal towards those kinds of gestures and will continue to work hard for you, as long as they are heard and listened to.
