Fitness is never far from our thoughts; we are reminded of our fitness level whenever we look at the mirror, get dressed, or hit an unexpected flight of stairs. Most of us want to be more fit. But our busy world can make it difficult. If you are determined, though, there will always be a way. Something that works for many people is to have fitness equipment in their home. That way, there is nothing to stop you from working out when you have the time. There are many kinds of fitness equipment, here are a few of the more effective machines you should know about.
- Treadmill: Treadmills are found in every gym in the world; they are ubiquitous because they work. They provide the opportunity to jog or run in place and supply statistics for you to track progress. The best treadmill designs are programmable and simulate inclines as well. However, a treadmill is not a low-impact machine, and if you have knee or other joint concerns, you might choose another option.
- Rowing Machine: A rowing machine is both a cardio machine and a strength-building machine, but mainly they are used for burning calories. One of the benefits of a rowing machine is that they work different muscles than other cardio equipment, so you can get a more rounded fitness schedule by switching back and forth.
- Stationary Bike: A stationary bike is another form of a cardio machine; they are very trendy right now, with spin classes and video workouts available. If you like to cycle, this might be your thing. The muscle groups affected are more limited however, but they are great for leg strength.
- Cable Pulldown Machine: If you shop wisely, you can find a cable pulldown machine that can provide several strength workouts. It would be best if you had something for triceps pulldowns, lat pulldowns, and cable curls, and those three together will do great things for your arms and core. Getting all in one will save you a little money for supplements or more workout gear.
- Chest Press Machine: A chest press machine will do a great job defining your chest and getting those other upper body muscles in shape. However, you can skip it if you get a power rack
- Power Rack: An excellent piece of equipment for a home gym is a power rack. These devices are a lifesaver for people that want to lift safely at home without a spotter. You can set it up to do squats and all the bench-based exercises, and the good ones have chin-up and leg raise handles too. Using a power rack in conjunction with a free weight routine will take care of almost any weight training you might choose to do.
Exercising at home has become much more popular recently, and many people have taken the opportunity to build that body that they dreamed about. If you have the room, a gym at home will make it easy to work out without getting in the car and heading to the gym. If you only have space for one machine though, a cardio machine will be best for your overall fitness.
